  Nikolai Rozhenko  Paul Sorvino

Son of Sergey and Helena Rozhenko and adoptive older brother of Worf. During their childhood, Nikolai and Worf frequently disagreed, and their personalities clashed well into their adulthood. Nikolai entered Starfleet Academy with Worf in 2357, but found the atmosphere too restrictive and left the academy at the end of his first year. Nikolai later became a scientist and cultural observer. In 2370, he was assigned to planet Borall II. Nikolai overstepped the role of observer, and became personally involved with the village he was assigned to study. During that year, severe plasmonic reactions began destroying the planet's atmosphere. Rozhenko sent a distress call, and while waiting for help to arrive, protected the villagers with an energy shield from his observation post, a violation of the Prime Directive. The Starship Enterprise-D responded to Rozhenko's call, and Captain Picard refused to erect an atmospheric shield to protect the village, citing Prime Directive considerations. Rozhenko then surreptitiously transported the Boraalan villagers into a holodeck representation of their encampment, forcing Captain Picard to participate in a plan in which the Boraal villagers were maintained in a holographic simulation until they were beamed down to a new planetary home. After the entire Boraalan village was successfully transported to the surface of Vacca VI, Nikolai decided to remain with the village and Dobara, with whom he had fathered a child. He became the village's new chronicle, taking Vorin's place.

Nikolai Rozhenko was first seen in "Homeward" (TNG).
