  Erik Pressman  Terry O'Quinn

Federation admiral attached to Starfleet Intelligence. In 2358, Pressman, a captain, commanded the Federation Starship Pegasus, a prototype ship designed to test several types of new technologies. Pressman was also in charge of the covert testing of a new Federation designed phasing cloak, even though the development of this technology by the Federation was a violation of the Treaty of Algeron. Pressman persisted in testing the device, over the objections of most of the crew. During the final test of the device, Pressman's crew mutinied, and Pressman was forced to escape the ship, along with seven other crew members who remained loyal to him, including William T. Riker. The Pegasus was believed to have suffered a warp-core breach shortly after Pressman's departure, and was believed destroyed with all hands. A Judge Advocate General report expressed a strong suspicion that a mutiny had taken place, but no further action was taken due to lack of evidence. In 2370, Starfleet Intelligence obtained evidence that the Romulans were searching for the wreck of the Pegasus, so Pressman came aboard the Enterprise-D, determined to locate and salvage the cloaking device aboard the Pegasus. When the exact nature of Pressman's interest in the Pegasus was finally made clear. Pressman was placed under arrest and charged with violating the Treaty of Algeron.

Erik Pressman was first seen in "The Pegasus" (TNG).
